RESPONSE / FACTS, collaborative sampling campaign

At the end of July, a collaborative sampling campaign took place between entities of two European projects financed by JPI Oceans: RESPONSE and FACTS, both focused on contamination by microplastics in marine waters. The main objective of this campaign was to compare two microplastic sampling methods at points with different degrees of contamination in the Ría de Vigo.

The two sampling equipment used were the Universal Filtration Object (UFO), which collects microplastics through a filtering system, and the trawlnet blanket, which collects them by surface dragging. Soon after the processing of the samples we will obtain the final results of this campaign.
